Peak3 recognised in the 2025 Gartner® Market Guide for Life and P&C Insurance Core Systems, APAC

Peak3 has been identified as a representative vendor in the 2025 Gartner Market Guide for Life and P&C Insurance Core Systems, APAC because of its next-generation cloud core platform, Graphene. According to Gartner, “This guide helps life and P&C CIOs gain insights into key vendors operating in APAC to aid in vendor evaluation.”

We are proud to be recognised for our role in driving innovation and supporting insurers as they navigate their technology modernization journeys.

This recognition by Gartner comes in addition to Peak3’s recognition in the 2024 ISG Provider Lens™ Insurance Platform Solutions report for Asia Pacific. In this ISG report, Peak3 was recognized as a Leader for both for Life and Retirement Insurance Platform Solutions and Property and Casualty Insurance Platform Solutions.

Localized capabilities and regional scalability are critical for insurers in a fragmented APAC market

Gartner observes that "The APAC market for insurance core systems is highly fragmented. This fragmentation restricts the addressable market for vendors and their ability to invest in their platforms to address the localization needs of many APAC countries. Of the vendors reporting production clients by country, only four have production clients in more than five countries."

In this complex and diverse environment, in our opinion, Peak3 stands out as a solution provider with several deployments of Graphene across all major economies in Southeast Asia, Japan and Greater China. Through extensive configurability, local country capability layers and integrations, and significant continuous product investments, Graphene is uniquely suited to serve insurers across countries on one global code base with true multi-tenancy. Through this, Graphene allows the set-up of regionally harmonized and scalable business models, creating tangible synergies across country entities. Such synergies range from easily copying new insurance propositions from one country to another for accelerated speed-to-market to sharing cloud and maintenance resources to reduce operational costs.

Multi-line capabilities are crucial requirements to reduce complexity for APAC's composite insurers

In the APAC market, many insurers operate a composite business, providing insurance protection across life, health and P&C insurance. Gartner notes that "this makes it far more complex for insurers to modernize, as most vendors will not be ready to support multiple lines of business on a single core." In fact, only four vendors in this Gartner® report, one of them Peak3, cover both life and P&C insurance on one system.

Bill Song, CEO of Peak3, explains: "Graphene is our vision to reduce complexity for insurers. By being both composite across product lines and end-to-end across the functional value chain, Graphene helps our clients consolidate sometimes dozens of legacy systems into one solution. The resulting complexity reduction in integrations, reporting, data management is massive."

The shift to the cloud accelerates, but insurers need to thoroughly evaluate vendors' true cloud capabilities

As noted in the research, “Gartner expects the cloud deployment trend to continue to build momentum in the coming years. However, vendors approach cloud deployment in different ways — some are simply a lift and shift, while others are cloud-enabled or even cloud-native". Furthermore,   Gartner recommends  to "evaluate vendors’ cloud strategy, execution and competency by examining cloud providers’ current experience, roadmap and plans".

Peak3's Graphene core platform stands out as one of the only cloud-native core platforms in the market - with all its deployments in the cloud. Not only is Graphene cloud-native, but also agnostic of cloud vendors. Production deployments on Amazon Webs Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud, amongst others, prove this. This also extends to multi-cloud deployments (e.g., production and disaster recovery environments deployed on different cloud vendors), providing unmatched flexibility and resilience to insurers.

To "middle office" or to modernize your core? Long-term optionality is important in the modernization journey

Given the complexity and timeframe of holistic core modernizations, insurers have been looking at adding digital layers or a "middle-office" on top of the legacy core(s), instead of replacing them. However, this can bring new challenges, as Gartner  explains:

"The middle office provides the integration APIs and digital accelerators to enable the rapid development of digital engagement solutions, such as portals and apps. However, buyers should note that a middle office does not remove the need to modernize the core. The middle-office solution will still need to integrate with the core system, and this can often be very complex when moving beyond simple quote-and-buy transactions. The middle office can also introduce duplication and synchronization issues for functions such as product definitions and rates. Buyers may want to evaluate a middle-office option for more immediate needs, but should do so with the longer-term goals and objectives of their modernization strategy in mind."

Peak3's Graphene is uniquely positioned to serve both as a full core system, as well as a middle office. Its full microservices architecture allows a modular deployment. Whether insurers want to replace their legacy core(s) or modules thereof (e.g., claims), extend digital capabilities like a middle office on top of legacy core(s), or launch new business on a separate adjacent core without legacy constraints, Graphene tailors to insurers unique circumstances and requirements. Importantly, insurers may adopt more modules over time. This means that insurers may start using Graphene as a middle-office first and, when the time comes for a more holistic modernization, use more of Graphene's capabilities, building on previous implementation work, instead of writing it off.
